CBD acts on different receptors in the human body
What is CBD?
CBD is a cannabinoid present in the cannabis plant with a molecular conception very similar to that of THC, but unlike the latter, CBD does not have any psychotropic effect, in other words, it does not cause any feelings of intoxication, vertigo or euphoria, characteristics associated with THC and more generally with the recreational use of marijuana.
Cannabidiol CBD has several therapeutic properties that we are going to present to you in this article. An interesting feature of this molecule is its low toxicity and the fact that it has very few undesirable side effects: in the worst case, too high a dose could cause sedation (before sleeping). We can note that CBD has a low affinity for cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2), but acts more importantly with other receptors in the human body, such as GPR55 or 5-HT1A.

CBD acts on different receptors in the human body A study published in February 2015 in the journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy shows that a CBD-rich marijuana plant extract has better efficiency than CBD used in its pure form, thanks to the other cannabinoids, aromatic terpenes, and some other molecules present in the plant, which act in natural synergy to improve the action of CBD and in particular its dosage / efficiency ratio. Therefore, it is important to use, when possible, products that also have these other synergistic molecules, and not just CBD in its isolated form.
In general, CBD products to consume come in the form of CBD oil, capsules, or spray. The dosage of CBD is not well defined by science yet and varies according to the disease to be treated, but it is usually common to start with 1mg of CBD for each Kg of body weight, and gradually increase until the efficient dose is found.
An important point to highlight is the study published on the Cannabis and Cannabinoid Research website in June 2016, which shows that CBD consumed orally can be transformed into THC by the acidity of the gastric juices of the stomach. This could explain why some children who use CBD for epilepsy have the typical experience of THC side effects, such as drowsiness. Therefore, it is advisable to consume CBD sublingually (under the tongue), thus preventing it from passing through the digestive system.
